My Gender

A Little about Me

x Young Afro-Caribbean woman, philosopher and singer. I love learning and view life as a non-stop, constant university. Currently living in London, producing conscious dub and soul music and helping those with mental ill health to recover, function in society and come to terms with both their own and society's stigma/negative feeling towards certain conditions. I am getting itchy for further travel, having returned from Thailand and China several years ago! x

Why I Build Sustainably

x I think that the current mode of existence for humans, including the types of structures we occupy, are counter to our communal and spiritual natures. I also think that they are inefficient and out-dated, being upheld and maintained by those with a vested interest in maintaining the status quo. I think natural space can be utilised much better to create happier, more vibrant communities and I would love to be involved in the pursuit of this goal. x

Skills I would like to Work on or Share.

x Good mediator, great at written expression. x

My Life Philosophy

x Love is a powerful emotion and should be expressed and acted upon as frequently and strongly as possible. I am love. Humans are spirits temporarily occupying physical vessels on Earth. We have a higher purpose that the cosmos is aware of and that purpose will unfold in the fullness of time. Faith in I&I x

My Occupation

Building Styles I'm Interested in

Rammed Earth
Earthship/used tires
Straw Bale

Reclaimed Materials
Local Materials (ie Sustainable Wood)
Stone/Flint walls
x My friend Sam Coad is passionate about all these styles of building and more. You can see examples of them and useful information at his website: http://www.alternativebuildingassociation.com/ His passion rubbed off on me slightly and I suppose the simple fact that these alternatives are more efficient, long-lasting, heat-retaining, cooling, cheaper (in the long run) and less damaging to our environment.

My Education

x All the necessary accruements of a standard British education and beyond including a BA (Hons) in the Arts (Film, Literature and Drama) and a Masters degree in global film.

My Eating Habits

x I have recently succumbed to the lures of fish, eggs and cheese after several months as a vegan. It would be great to work somewhere with animals do that I could enjoy (or abstain) from their treats with greater awareness and understanding. x
